Singapore Physical Features

Singapore is mainly comprised of lowlying land.  Singapore has 57 small islands included in its borders.  Being such a small country means that there are not very many physical features in its borders.  Singapore has about 120 miles of coastline.  Its lowest point is at sea level on the Singapore Straight.  Bukit Timah lies at a towering 545 feet above sea level.  Bukit Timah encompasses a Nature Reserve with guided tours.  The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve has 840 flowering plants and over 500 species of animals.

In Singapore, an old British armory called the Johore Battery was rediscovered in April of 1991.  The Johore Battery was built by the British in 1939 and was hidden until the Singapore Prisons Department found them.  The Battery had a system of tunnels running under it and was built to hold ammo for the biggest guns built outside of Britain.  The guns at this armory fired enormous 15-inch shells.  The Johore Battery can be toured daily.
