History

The country of vietnam was controlled and taken by France in 1884, it later became part of French Indochina in 1887. The vietmanese government declared independence from France after World War 2. Independence did not come though intill 1954 when the French lost to Ho Chi Minh. Under the Geneva Convention vietnam was split into North Communist Vietnam and South Anti-Communsit Vietnam. In 1965 the U.S. started sending ground troops in to Vietnam which marked the official start of the war. The war was fought because the U.S. knew Ho Chi Minh was going to make Vietnam communist and the U.S. wanted it to be Democratic. The U.S. pulled out of vietnam in 1973 after a seize fire agreement.

Vietnam's official independnce day is September 2, 1945 when they got independnce from the French.

In 1995 Vietnam and the United States restored all diplomatic relations with eachother bringing peace back to Vietnam.
