Government
Vietnams government is considered a communist state. Vietnam like the U.S. has three branches of government. The Executive, Legislative, and the Judicial. Their Chief of State is President Nguyen Minh TRIET. The President is elected by the National Assembly. The unicameral National Assembly or Quoc Hoi is the equivalent to the U.S.'s congress. Vietnams's Supreme Court is called the Supreme Peoples Court, which is also elected by the National Assembly. Vietnam has 58 official Provinces.
Vietnam's most important document is their Constitution which was made and signed on April 15, 1992. Another important document in the Vietnam government is the Paris Peace Treaty, which was signed on January 27, 1973 in Paris, France. This marked the end of the vietmanese war and peace between the U.S., France, and Vietnam.
Vietnam is starting to encounter major drug problems. Many vietmanese people are starting to use illegal drugs such as meth and heroin. The government has made major crackdowns on groups selling the drugs but have not been able to stop the spreading of the drugs.
China is now occuping islands that are not only controlled by Vietnam and taiwan. This dispute between the three countries does not have a solution yet but the government is looking for one.
