Economy
As of 2010, Vietnam is ranked as the 144th country with the freeset economy in the world, and 33rd out of 41 in the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnam's economy is starting to become a market economy. Some of Vietnam's major exports are crude oil, marine products, coffee, rubber, tea, rice, and clothing items. Major imports inculde petroleum products, machinery and other types of equipment, electronics, steel, fertilizer, cement, and grains. The Tet Effect is a major issue for the economy of Vietnam. Tet is a new year holiday in Vietnam that started on February 12, 2002. It is one of the most important celebrations in Vietnam. The problem is that during Tet, people are not smart with their money. On a normal day, money wouldn't be spent on things that it's spent on during Tet. This does damage to the economy because there is a shortage of the Dong (money of Vietnam) starting.
