Politics - Philippenes

Page history last edited by Chanel Prendez 13 years, 11 months ago

The Philippines is a republic with the presidental form of government using the three different branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The first important document in the Philippines is the Philippine Constitution signed in 1987. This document signaled that the country has returned to democracy. The second important document is a document that was found in 1989 on Laguna de Be'y by a river by a man that was wandering the area. The document is a rolled up piece of metal with small writing hammered into the surface. The document was offered to the National Museum of the Philippines. The text on the document is "Kavi", a mysterious and lost language of the acient Philippines. However, after being researched and studied, the document dates back to 900 A.D. The document is now called "Laguna Copperplate Inscription".

The Philippine's economy has improved by much compared to its past. The Philippines used to be based on the supply of agriculture. However, now the Philippines has been tranformed into a new industrilized country. The country is dependent on services and the manufacturing sector.  Some of the top Philippines exports include coconut oil, gold, petroleum, and dried fish.

A current issue in the country is acid rain. Acid rain has been hurting the forests, trees, and agriculture. The solution for this problem is that the government has been taking notice to the amount of polution that has increased. Therefore, they are deliberating on whether or not to cut down these numbers. Another current issue is the education in the country. Studies show that every 10 children who start their primary education, only 6 continue onto their secondary education, and only 4 will complete school with college. So far, there has not been a solution to this growing problem.
